Wales: place
I did study-abroad at the University of North Wales, Bangor in the fall of 1999. I chose Wales for two reasons. One was due to ancestry, the other was that no one ever thinks of Wales. At least not that much in the USA. Everyone knows England, and Ireland and Scotland have been romanticized and commodified to death, but Wales is kind of the forgotten underdog, and I liked that. I took 3 Welsh history classes, two music classes and a Welsh language class.
Wales, at least the northern part, had every shade of Green and Grey imaginable. It also has some of the coolest castles (Though historically they were built by the English to trap the Welsh in the mountains).
One of the things that helped me make my decision to move to Maryland was that the School I work at used the Welsh Flag as their emblem (despite having a Scottish Name), though I was disappointed recently when our new mascot costume was unveiled (a cartoony version of Y Ddraig Goch) and it was introduced as having "just flown in from Scotland".

W - Wolf Shirt
Wolf Shirt: thing, trend
The kids these days, apparently, are into Wolf Shirts. I'm pretty sure I had an actual non-ironic wolf shirt in the mid 90s: black, with a wolf howling at some stars with some purple aurora borealis action. Or a guy I knew did, I don't remember. It might still be in the T-shirt archives back home.

W - Weddings
Weddings: events
I try to limit myself to one wedding per year.
I was a ring-bearer at my Uncle and Aunts wedding. I think I had to be bribed with a Care Bear to do it.
I have provided entertainment and catering for weddings.
My favorite all time wedding moment so far was at my friend Brendan's wedding when they played Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" as they cut the cake. (though there were enjoyable moments at my other friends' weddings too).
If I were going to get married the one non-negotiable would be that there would have to be a live band for the reception. I would also like it to be not-a-huge-stressful-production, and a pot-luck, and very laid back and fun, and not crazy expensive. But I don't really have to worry about that.
